JNU row: Hafiz Saeed says Kashmiris expressed themselves; asks Rajnath to stop 'false propaganda'

“India has labelled allegations against me that Hafiz Saeed is involved in anti-India protests in JNU.
"After learning about it, I felt very strange because I have never posted any such tweet, and the tweeter account itself is fake,” Saeed said in the video.
“I have not tweeted nor I have tried to provoke the students on the Kashmir cause, because Kashmiris themselves have expressed themselves.

“Everyone knows how Afzal Guru was executed. A big injustice was done to him,” he said.
“I have never spoken about it. But it was made into a big issue in India. The Indian government wanted to portray that this fake account as my own and the tweet as real,” Saeed said.
“I am surprised and want to know what India thinks about the issue of Kashmiri's freedom. India is trying to mislead the world. Kashmir is for Kashmiris.
“People of Kashmir have faced a lot of atrocities and discrimination because of the presence of the Indian security forces.
“We shouldn't we focus on this. Why can't Kashmiris speak about their own freedom.
“And to say that Hafiz Saeed has said this and that is very wrong.
“Even in the case of Mumbai attacks, they have falsely implicated me . Our court has said that it is a media propaganda.
“India runs its government through propaganda. Now it is even cheating its own people.
“So I want to tell Rajnath and others responsible to change this attitude, listen to Kashmiris, don't try to de-track the issue by labelling false allegations against me.
“This method is absolutely wrong, don't make fun of the Kashmir cause... and accept the reality,” Jama'at-ud-Da'wah chief said in the video.

Dipti Sarna kidnapping: Mind-blowing plot by a psycho inspired by Shah Rukh's 'Darr'

Addressing a press conference, Monday, Ghaziabad SSP Dharmendra Yadav gave a blow-by-blow account of how the main accused Devender – with help of 4 others - plotted the plan to abduct Dipti.
The 'story' starts sometime around Jan-Feb 2015 when Devender accidentally saw Dipti Sarna at the Rajiv Chowk Metro Station in the heart of the national capital. Dipti was an M-Tech student at that time and used to frequently commute with friends on the metro.
As the Senior Superintendent of Police put it put, Devender, like in the Shah Rukh movie 'Darr', developed an intense infatuation for the pretty girl. He felt he had no life with her.

A history-sheeter, Devender had frequent run-ins with law in the past and had even spent time in jail. But his past did not deter him from his mission to woo Dipti.

Soon he started to stalk her and did a recce on her for at least 150 times in the last year. Dipti was by then started to work at Snapdeal.
Devender did such a perfect job of stalking her that he knew everything about her itinerary. But he also found out, disturbingly for him, that she used to meet a person, refereed to as Mr A by the police.
Mr A was Dipti's friend but Devender developed other ideas. Mr A became his No 1 enemy.
Soon , he decided it was time to work out his plan.
Devender bought two autos and started to ply them on the route taken by Dipti from her in home to Vaishali Metro Station.
He involved his other friends Pradeep, Mohit, Fahim and Majid in the plan but without telling them what his real motive was.
Devender told them that he has identified a girl who is into Hawala trading and has crores of unaccounted cash. His friends bought the idea that they help him in abducting her, they can land themselves a bounty of atleast Rs 1.5 crore each. To sweeten the deal, Devender said that the girl will never report the case to the police as it was Hawala money.
Setting the part B of the plan into motion, Devender used to wait near Vaishali Metro Station in the hope of getting Dipti to sit in his auto.
But his plan seldom worked because Dipti used to always prefer autos which had other female passengers.
On February 10, as Dipti reached Vaishali from her office in Gurgaon, the Devender and his gang were lying in wait. While Pradeep was at the driver seat, Devender sat with him in the front row while Fahim was at the rear seat – leaving two seats were vacant in the auto.
Dipti came and once again chose an auto which had another female occupant, which soon proceeded towards Old Bus Stand in Ghaziabad with Devender and gang following it. Their other accomplice Majid trailed them in a Swift car (backup escape vehicle if things went wrong).
At the Shaibabad traffic signal, the gang closed in on the auto and Devender inserted a nail-fitted board beneath the tyre of the auto Dipti was travelling in.
As expected, the auto's tyre got burst and the auto stalled on the Mohan Nagar flyover, 300 metres from the signal. Majid, who was driving the Swift, also missed seeing the nail-laden board and the car's tyre also got punctured.

Don't believe an iota of what Headley disclosed to India, says Pervez Musharraf

“I don't believe in whatever he is saying, unless our investigation and our intelligence are saying the same,” Musharraf said adding “He can be manipulated and he can be forced to say anything while in your custody.”
Asked that such a grave issue can't be trashed as simply as that, Musharraf said: “No comments at all, I will not go along with the statements of one witness who is in your custody, he will blurt out anything you want him to say.”
Musharraf made the comments during an interview with India Today news channel.
Hadley on Friday, while disposing at a Mumbai court, had revealed the names of ISI officers who tasked him on what he should do when he visits India and where he could get his money from. During the course of his disposition, he named several senior Pakistani military officials who were in touch with him like Brigadier Riyaz, Colonel Shah, Colonel Hamza, Major Samar Ali etc.
Referring to PM Narendra Modi's recent visit to Pakistan, Musharraf said, “It reeks of hypocrisy and artificiality, because there is no substance, we don't know here at all if they have addressed any substantial issue... other than shaking hands and wishing each other happy birthday and all."
Headley is currently serving a 35-year jail term in the US in connection with the 26/11 case.

Rahul Gandhi speaking in Hafiz Sayeed's language on JNU row: BJP

BJP claimed the "anti-India" march on JNU campus by a handful of people had invited country-wide condemnation but Congress and other opposition parties were targeting the Modi government due to their "political malice" and vote bank politics.
"Rahul Gandhi and his friends are speaking in the voice LeT terrorist Hafiz Sayeed who had tweeted in support of anti-India event in JNU. It is an insult to our martyrs and armed forces who sacrifice their lives on the border and will boost the morale of anti-national forces.
"JNU has produced many intellectuals and bureaucrats. A handful of people there have given anti-India speeches. Law is taking its course. BJP will urge Congress to not insult our martyrs for political reason," BJP national secretary Shrikant Sharma said.
Referring to the recent deaths of army personnel, he said it was unfortunate that while soldiers sacrificed their lives on the border, anti-India slogans were raised and terrorists hailed as martyrs in an institution like JNU.
Reacting to the arrest of the student leader over the controversial JNU event, Gandhi had said, "Modi Govt and & ABVP bullying an institution like JNU simply because it won't toe their line is completely condemnable."
"While Anti-India sentiment is unquestionably unacceptable, the right to dissent & debate is an essential ingredient of democracy," the Congress leader had said.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a tweet had said, "No one supports anti-national forces. But targeting innocent students using that as an excuse will prove very costly to Modi government".
BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said efforts to give "ideological cover" to violence and anti-India activities cannot be allowed.
"The way foul language was used against the Prime Minister...A group of students is trying to damage the dignity of an institution like JNU in the name of cultural agitation," he said.
Against the backdrop of claims made by Pakistani-American terrorist David Headley on Ishrat Jahan, Trivedi slammed the JD(U) for joining opposition parties in raising the JNU issue, saying it had termed her as the "daughter of Bihar".
"At a time when Bihar is being criminalised, JD(U) is joining others on the JNU issue...We won't allow any atrocity on students but at the same time we can't let go anti-nationals," he said.
Sharma accusing Congress of doing politics over terrorism and said the recent comment of a top former IB officer had "exposed" the opposition party. "Even in 26/11 terror attack in Mumbai, Congress had alluded to the involvement of RSS," Sharma said.

India 'disappointed' as US okays sale of 8 F-16 jets to Pakistan

New Delhi expressed its disappointment over the US' decision of selling eight F-16 fighter jets to Pakistaan and disagreed with a rationale that such arms' transfers will help combat terrorism.

The Ministry of External Affairs made government's displeasure clear and issued a statement:
India's decision comes after, the Obama administration today notified the US Congress of its decision to sell eight F-16 fighter jets to Pakistan worth nearly USD 700 million, notwithstanding American lawmakers' demand for stopping the proposed sale.
Despite mounting opposition from influential lawmakers from both the Republican and Democratic parties, the US State Department notified the Congress that it has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Pakistan for F-16 Block 52 Aircraft, equipment, training, and logistics support.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar nominated for Nobel Peace Prize?

As per a report in The Hindustan Times, the Art of Living founder's name has appeared as a likely contender for the prestigious award. The nominations for this year's Nobel Peace Prize – due to be announced sometime around October – closed on February 1. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is also among this year's Padma Vibhushan awardees.
HT refers to a report published by Thomson Reuters Foundation in its blog on February 1 that read: “The Norwegian Nobel Institute does not publish names of nominees, but Nobel watchers have said former US spy agency contractor Edward Snowden and peace negotiators in Colombia have also been nominated.”
Sri Sri Ravishankar has played an important role in the attempts to bring peace to Colombia. The Indian spiritual leader, during his Cuba tour in 2015, had held several rounds of discussions with leaders of the FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia) in an exercise of confidence-building for the peace process in the Latin American nation.
During these talks, FARC leaders had agreed to follow Gandhian principle of non-violence to attain its political objectives.
In recognition for his efforts, Columbian government had in July last year honoured Sri Sri with their highest civilian award, ‘Orden de la Democracia Simón Bolívar’.
A designated terrorist organization by the UN and USA, the left-wing FARC is involved in the Colombian armed conflict since 1964.
Since November 2012, FARC has been hammering out peace terms with government negotiators to bring an end to five decades of war and conflict, which has killed more than 2,00,000 people and uprooted more than six million people.

Selfie rage takes another life: Schoolboy mowed down by train in Chennai

The incident happened yesterday evening when the boy was trying to take a selfie on the railway track, but was hit by a speeding train, which led to his death.
The victim has been identified as Dena Sukumar, a class 12 student of Poonamallee Aringnar Anna government higher secondary school.
Selfie-related deaths have continued to haunt India in 2016 as three girls drowned in sea while trying to click themselves in January this year. After the incident, Mumbai police identified 16 'No Selfie Zones' in the city in a bid to discourage people from putting themselves at risk while photographing themselves.
According to study by Washington Post, India accounted for about half of 27 selfie-related deaths across the world.
